Yes. Reading available YouTube captions is free, with no signup required. Create a free account to get 20 credits for Transcript Guru’s built-in AI tools. Some features, including AI transcription and file uploads, require an eligible paid plan. See plans and pricing for current access and allowances.

Yes. The buttons and menus are available in 34 languages. Choose your display language in Settings. This changes the interface without changing the transcript or the language you choose for AI results.

Transcript Guru helps you save time with searchable YouTube transcripts and AI summaries. Find the main points, locate a quote or jump to a specific explanation without watching the whole video. Use it for research, studying and creating content. You can also open the transcript in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity or DeepSeek to generate a summary with your own AI app.

Yes. Transcript Guru is an educational tool for research, studying and learning from YouTube videos. Use transcripts and summaries to review lectures and find key points. The web app also offers flashcards, quizzes and study guides.

Yes. With an eligible paid plan, you can transcribe the audio using AI when usable captions are unavailable. The credit cost depends on the recording’s length. AI transcription can automatically detect the spoken language.

Yes, when YouTube provides live captions. The extension collects those captions as the stream plays. Sign in to save the captured transcript to your account. Translating live captions requires an eligible paid plan and uses credits.

Yes. Upload files such as MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, FLAC or MP4 through the Transcript Guru web app. File transcription requires an eligible paid plan and uses credits. Your plan sets the file-size and recording-length limits.

Yes. Choose from 75 languages, including Spanish, French, Arabic, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese and Chinese. Read the translation in the extension beside the video. Translation requires sign-in and uses Transcript Guru credits.

Yes. Sign in and open the Summary tab, choose a style and generate your summary inside the extension. You can choose the output language, add a focus and show or hide timestamps. Generating a summary uses Transcript Guru credits.

Yes. Choose ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity or DeepSeek in Settings, then use the player’s summary button to open the transcript in your chosen AI app. You can send the request automatically or review it first. This option does not use Transcript Guru credits. The selected provider’s account requirements and usage limits apply. If AI transcription is needed first, that transcription still uses credits.

Download transcripts as TXT, PDF, DOCX, SRT, VTT, CSV or JSON. Choose whether to include timestamps in TXT, PDF and DOCX. SRT, VTT, CSV and JSON preserve timing information.

Sign-in is required for PDF, DOCX and CSV downloads, and for TXT downloads without timestamps. Downloads do not use credits.

We do not sell your personal data. Transcript Guru’s text-based AI tools send transcript text to AI services to generate results. AI transcription processes audio, including audio from video files. When you use your own AI app, that provider’s privacy terms apply. Read our privacy policy for details.
